Arjantin’in Buenos Aires kentinde bir araya gelen hemen tüm sektörden yüz binlerce işçi, Arjantin devletinin neo-liberal saldırıları sonrası yaşanan işten atılmalara karşı sokaklara çıktı. Arjantin’de sadece Ocak ayında, 4 bin kamu işçisi işten atılmıştı. Eyleme katılan sendikalar arasında, toplam üye sayısı 5 milyona yaklaşan üç büyük işçi örgütü Genel İşçi Konfederasyonu , Arjantin Merkez İşçi Sendikası  ve Kamu İşçileri Sendikası yer aldı. Ayrıca, yaklaşık 200 bin üyesi bulunan taşımacılık sektöründe çalışan işçilerin sendikası da eylemlerde yer aldı. Kamyon şoförleri de, devletin kapitalist ekonomi politikalarına karşı, kentin en kalabalık mahallelerindeki yolları kapattı.

Öte yandan, patron dostu bazı medya organları da eylemleri karalamaya çalışmaktan geri durmadı. Eylem öncesi America Channel’dan bir gazetecinin, kameramana, eylemcilerin alkollü içecek içtiği görüntüleri yakalaması talebinde bulunarak, “Tüm kamyoncuların ayyaş olduğunu göstermek zorundayız” dediği ses kaydı ortaya çıktı.

Arjantin’de kamu sektörü ve hükümet arasındaki gerilim, Devlet Başkanı Macri’nin emeklilik ve işçilere yönelik düzenlemelerinin kongre tarafından onaylanmasından itibaren artış gösterdi.

Yapılan düzenlemelerde; şirketlerin çalışanlarını işten çıkarmasının kolaylaştırılması, geçici çalışmanın yaygınlaştırılması ve sosyal güvenlik sistemine katkının düşürülmesi en çok tepki gösterilen konular arasında.

Ayrıca Kamu İşçileri Birliği ATE’nin verilerine göre, son iki ayda hükümet yaklaşık binlerce kamu çalışanını işten attı.
