Bricriú Mac Carbad, also known as
'Bricriú the troublemaker' or 'Bricriú of the poisonous
tongue' was a mythological character from the Tain, who regularly set
the great and the good of the Gaelic aristocracy against one another.
He is said to have annoyed a king so much on one occasion with his
satire, that the king threw a chess-piece at him and fractured his
skull.
